Some Vacuum cleaning
I recently followed "The PC Doctor" advice to clean up my PC with a vacuum cleaner. My laptop is about 3 years old and has never been cleaned so far, except for the keyboard, the microbes preferred place (wash your hand kids!).
I first turn off your PC, unlocked all cables and ensured that the hard disk heads were parked. I just put my laptop on my knees with the vents on top (no need to dismantle it)....
You have been warned!
Like any manipulation of your PC,the steps described below present some risks and may in some cases damage your computer and void your warranty, so if you do it, it is at your own risk...you have been warned.
The beginning
For a long time I have been searching for ways to boost my PC to get the best out of it. Internet contains a lot of tips and tricks to boost your PC performances, some good some less good....
Interested in having Windows XP looking and behaving as Vista? I know, I know, there are enough articles on the subject, but just check out this one first, and then complain if you still feel so (I want hear you anyway):
First Teaser (the desktop)
Check out the Vista skin and the top dock. It's a free product you can get from Stardock at http://www.stardock.com/products/objectdock/ (http://www.stardock.com/products/objectdock/).
The skin it-self is a commercial product, also from Stardock, called Windowblinds. You can find it here...
There is a pletora of music apps for the iPad, but few met my needs. They range from the "beep beep" kind of synthetizer, up to the most advanced synth which can interact with other devices through a special Midi plug.
I am not a musician, but can play by ear. Ideally I need an app which can accomodate my iterative attemps to create a melody, while still providing professional-like instrument samples.
I have recently acquired an iPad 2 and will soon share with you my findings. Needless to say the device is gorgious, and the applications I have found take highly advantage of the horse power. Stay tuned!
Amazing cartoon project
Ever seen a professional computer animated cartoon made by amateurs? Well have a look to this with your kids...a great moment you won't forget.
Does the rabbit remind you somebody?
The Outlook rule that may save your life
You have certainly gone at least once through this strange sensation, mix of regrets and self-hate after having pushed the send button of Outlook, to then realise the receipient was not the intended one, or that you had erroneously attached a confidential document instead of family pictures.
Don't dispear, there is an easy way to prevent this to ever happen again which is described here.
