Some Vacuum cleaning
I recently followed "The PC Doctor" advice to clean up my PC with a vacuum cleaner. My laptop is about 3 years old and has never been cleaned so far, except for the keyboard, the microbes preferred place (wash your hand kids!).
I first turn off your PC, unlocked all cables and ensured that the hard disk heads were parked. I just put my laptop on my knees with the vents on top (no need to dismantle it)....
You have been warned!
Like any manipulation of your PC,the steps described below present some risks and may in some cases damage your computer and void your warranty, so if you do it, it is at your own risk...you have been warned.
The beginning
For a long time I have been searching for ways to boost my PC to get the best out of it. Internet contains a lot of tips and tricks to boost your PC performances, some good some less good....
Interested in having Windows XP looking and behaving as Vista? I know, I know, there are enough articles on the subject, but just check out this one first, and then complain if you still feel so (I want hear you anyway):
First Teaser (the desktop)
Check out the Vista skin and the top dock. It's a free product you can get from Stardock at http://www.stardock.com/products/objectdock/ (http://www.stardock.com/products/objectdock/).
The skin it-self is a commercial product, also from Stardock, called Windowblinds. You can find it here...
If you are a real Symbian fanboy, you may not have missed SPB's recent announcement for the release of SPB Mobile Shell.
Being a former Windows Mobile freak (which I still am, but be sure it will only last until version 7 of Windows phone gets released....), I have been using SPB Mobile shell for long and still consider it as the best user interface ever released.
SPB Mobile shell replaces all your deep and borring menus by touch friendly and visually appealing menus. In a few clicks you reach your favourite application, dial your friends or even consult the latest weather information.
Sounds tempting, isn't it? Well it's not only possible but it is as easy as 1 2 3. vReveal is a commercial application (a free version also exists) that turns any standard size video into high-definition video. Not only does it perform video re-scaling but it also enhance your video quality in a dramatic way.
vReveal offers numerous features such as shaking reduction, automatic white-balance, image enhancing...etc
You may have thought that the site had been quite for the two last weeks, but a lot of things have been happening behind the scene. Over the past days I have chases typos, spelling mistakes and wrong text formatting. This is still work in progress, but that's the least you diserve, especially from a site aiming at quality rather than quantity.
Nonetheless, you may have noticed on the right side of the page an entry box for subscribing to my brand new newsletter. Through this newsletter I will share with you my latest findings on the web. Time permitting, it will evolve to a more exhaustive info letter with tips and tricks. Don't miss out and be the first to subscribe!
Last but not least, the addition of a new section on Document Management. Believe me, over the coming years, this will become a hot topic. I can't wait to share with you my latest experiments on file tagging, versioning, and much more. Since most people will search on the web for document management while they mean Digital Asset Management, I have named the section accordingly, but obviously the talk will go about DAM.
